How to create a digital clone of yourself: text, voice and video
A digital clone of yourself is an AI that knows what you know and answers the way you would. Built well, it takes the same questions off your plate every day, in chat, out loud in your own voice and in short videos. Here is how to build one in about five minutes, and how to make it good.
Before you start: decide what it is for
A clone that tries to be everything answers nothing well. Pick its first job: answering customers on your website, telling recruiters about your work, explaining your services, or keeping your life story for your family. You can widen it later.
Build it step by step
- Teach it in your own wordsGive it what you already have: texts, voice notes, documents, your website. Start with the ten questions people ask you most. A clone answers only from what it was taught, so this is where quality comes from.
- Give it your voiceRead three short texts aloud. From those recordings your twin can answer visitors out loud and narrate your videos in a voice people recognise as yours. The voice is cloned only with your consent, and only for your own twin.
- Make it look like youAdd your photo, a one-line headline and the topics it must not discuss, such as medical or legal advice.
- Put it where people already areYour twin gets its own page at talkmie.com/yourname. Add the chat to your website with one line of code, or print a QR code for a table, a menu or a business card.
- Let it make your videosPaste your website, upload your CV or pick a topic, and your twin writes a short video in your colours, narrated in your voice. See how video works.
- Keep teaching itQuestions your twin could not answer land in one list. Answer them once and it knows from then on. Ten minutes a week keeps a clone sharp.
Rules worth keeping
- Clone yourself only. A clone of anybody else needs their written consent, and in some countries it will soon be required by law.
- Be open about it. Your twin should say it is your digital twin, and videos in your cloned voice should carry an AI label where you post them. The EU AI Act now requires this.
- Decide who sees it. Keep your twin private while you test it, then make its page public when you are happy with the answers.
